Career Services

Quick Links

When students first get to a Job Corps center, they will work with teachers and staff to develop their own personalized career plan and choose an area in which they will train. The career plan will help them to focus on their educational and training goals, and will serve as a guide to what they will accomplish while they are in Job Corps. They will also work with Job Corps staff on writing a resume and on job interview and job search skills - all in the first few weeks of the program.

Many employers today want their employees to have the specific skills that apply to their business. Students learn important skills and gain experience in their chosen career areas. Job Corps provides an opportunity to earn a high school diploma or GED.

Finding a Job

Job Corps can help youth find good-paying jobs by giving them the opportunity to learn the specific skills that employers look for. The personalized career plan a student develops upon joining the program will serve as a roadmap to a better job and a better life for the young person and his or her family. As a student prepares to enter the working world, a Job Corps staff member will help find a job that matches the student's training. The student will work with a career counselor to practice interview skills, finalize their resume and find a good-paying job.
